The Japanese Moon Phase Diary website reports (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/moonphase/20080620#p4) that Bessatsu Young Magazine has announced plans for an anime adaptation of Ditama Bow’s 2007 romantic comedy manga series KissxSis (http://www.yanmaga.kodansha.co.jp/ym/rensai/bessatu/kissxsis/kiss.html). The KissxSis story revolves around high school boy Keita, whose two step-sisters make no secret of their intense love for him.
Battle Spirits Card Game to Get Anime & Manga
Bandai of Japan has announced plans to develop a multimedia franchise titled “Battle Spirits.” The Battle Spirits collectable card game, described as a “new generation of trading card game” that’s been in development at Bandai for three years, will debut on September 13th. Similar to Yu-Gi-Oh, Battle Spirits will involve player characters controlling supernatural animals and monsters in battle.
Sunrise Studios is reportedly developing an anime television series based on the card game. The anime will debut later this year.
Queen’s Blade Anime Announced
The advertising “obi” wrappers on the two latest volumes of Hobby Japan’s popular series of Queen’s Blade role playing game books reveal plans for a Queen’s Blade anime television series. Hobby Japan launched its line of Queen’s Blade illustrated role playing game books in 2005 as a spin-off from the successful and long running Lost Worlds RPG book series that debuted in 1983.
White Album Anime Announced
Ten years after the release of Leaf’s 1998 adult dating simulation game White Album, the franchise is reportedly being revived for an anime television series adaptation and a PS3 release.
“The White Album game centers around Toya Fuji, a college student dating a rising idol singer named Yuki Morikawa. The game deals with the challenges to the couple’s relationship from the other people at Fuji’s college, Morikawa’s work, and elsewhere.”
Shigofumi OVA Announced
The official Shigofumi ~Stories of Last Letter~ anime series homepage has revealed (http://www.shigofumi.com/anime_story.html) that the series’ seventh and final Japanese DVD, scheduled for release on September 26th, will include a previously unreleased 13th episode.
Alive Anime Announced
Gekkan Shonen Magazine has formally announced (http://www.gekkanmagazine.com/topics/080616aliveAnime/080616aliveAnime.html) that writer Tadashi Kawashima and artist Adachitoka’s sci-fi suspense manga series “Alive -Saishuu Shinkateki Shounen-” will be adapted into an anime television series. The series story revolves around a teen boy named Taisuke who gains mysterious supernatural powers at the same time a mysterious virus causes a wave of sudden suicides.
Korean Gon Animation Announced
Korean production company Tewon Media has obtained rights from Japanese publisher Kodansha to produce an animated series adaptation of Masashi Tanaka’s acclaimed manga series Gon. The Gon manga - an adventure comedy about a 3 foot tall orange dinosaur living in the wild in present day - made its Japanese debut in 1991 and its American debut from DC Comics’ Paradox Press in 1996. DC Comics re-released the series under its CMX label in 2007. The Korean animated series is tentatively scheduled to debut in 2010.
Heart no Kuni no Alice Anime Announced
Animate.tv reports (http://www.animate.tv/news/detail.php?id=atv080527c) that PC game developer QuinRose formally announced development of an anime OVA adaptation of its 2007 game “Heart no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~ (http://quinrose.com/game/alice_h/top.html)” at the recent “QuinRose MIX. ~2008.May~” promotional event. The game is a romantic bishonen adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s fantasy novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The OVA is tentatively scheduled for release in November.
To Aru Majutsu no Index Anime Announced
The Japanese Moon Phase Diary reports that Kazuma Kamachi’s supernatural fantasy novel series To Aru Majutsu no Index will be adapted into an anime television series.
The series’ story occurs in a universe in which magic and supernatural powers exist, and revolves around a high school boy with the power to nullify any magic or power and a young English nun pursued by villains because of the forbidden knowledge stored in her brain.
