Katanagatari OVA in 2010
The adaptation of NisiOisin’s 2007 light novel series looks like it will be a 20 monthly episode series released on pay-per-view TV then DVD. Katanagatari is a historical drama about a young swordsman in medieval Japan tasked with locating 12 swords forged by a legendary swordsmith.
Yumeiro Patissiere in October
Yellow Submarine has revealed the development of an anime TV series adaptation of Natsumi Matsumoto’s shoujo manga Yumeiro Patissiere. The manga premiered in September 2008 and tells the story of 14 year old Ichigo Amano, a clumsy girl who dreams of becoming a pastry chef.
Pokémon goes 3D
The official Japanese Pocket Monster homepage announced (http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/anime/a080926_01.html) that a Pokemon 3D Adventure double feature (http://www.warnermycal.com/event/pokemon3d/) will open theatrically on October 14th. Mew wo Sagase! and Pikachu no Kaitei Daiboken movies will be released once again with the new 3D technology.
Hanamaru Kindergarten on Gainax Production list
Seiji Mizushima will next be directing an anime adaptation of Yuto’s slice-of-life comedy manga Hanamaru Kindergarten.
Darker Than Black 2
Young Gangan magazine announced that anime studio BONES is at work on a second Darker Than Black television series.
New Shakugan no Shana Anime in Development
The cover of the July issue of Dengeki Bunko Magazine, which goes on sale in Japan on the 10th, reveals the development of a new Shakugan no Shana anime project. No other details are available yet.
Gainax works a couple of new projects
Gainax is now developing two new anime productions. One is a special episode of the 2002 Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi television series. The other presently untitled work will deal with free-diving, diving without the assistance of breathing equipment.
3rd Kiss x Sis in November
Rakuten (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/hoshinobk/421335/1908491/#1504454) reports that the fifth collected volume of Ditama Bow’s risqué comedy manga Kiss x Sis (http://kc.kodansha.co.jp/kiss_sis/) will be available on November 20 in a limited edition that includes a third Kiss x Sis anime DVD.
