The "obi (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/book/5138355/)" advertising wrap on the new, eighth volume of Katsumi Nishino's Kanokon light novel series reveals plans for a Kanokon anime. The romantic comedy series revolves around a human boy, a wolf-girl, and a fox-girl. The light novel series has been licensed for English translation by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Dragon Ball Movie to film this year for 2008 Releasei
Twentieth Century Fox has officially announced that it signed director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) and casted twenty-five-year-old Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series) in the lead role of Goku for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball action manga. According to the Variety newspaper, filming is set to begin this month, and the film is slated to open worldwide on August 15, 2008. James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike, Smallville's Brainiac) will play the antagonist Piccolo, and Stephen Chow, of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer fame, is producing the project.
Hidamari Sketch Second Series Announced
According to an uncited report on the Japanese 2Channel message board, promotional posters revealed at the November 18th Hidamari Sketch promotional event "Chou Hidamatsuri" revealed that a second Hidamari Sketch (http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/hidamari/) anime television series, titled Hidamari Sketch x 365, will premier next year.
New Cobra Anime Announced
Space Adventure Cobra manga creator Buichi Terasawa has formally revealed (http://www.buichi.com/images/img_anican_071020.jpg) on his homepage that a new 30th anniversary Cobra anime will soon go into production.
New Production IG & Masamune Shirow Collaboration Announced
Production IG has formally revealed development of an anime television series titled RD Senno Chosashitsu (http://www.ntv.co.jp/RD/). The futuristic mystery series concept was co-developed between Production IG and manga artist Masamune Shirow. The anime, scheduled to premier next April, will be directed by Chevalier director Kazuhiro Furuhashi and written by Junichi Fujisaku, director of Blood+ and scriptwriter for many episodes of the Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. series. Manga artist Tetsuro Ueyama (Metal Guardian Faust) will provide character designs.
New SF Action Anime Announced
Anime production studios Xebec and Genco have formally announced work on an "original animation hard boiled SF action" anime titled "Mnemosyne -Mnemosyne no Imouto Tachi- (http://www.rin-asougi.com/)" (Mnemosyne -Little Sisters of Mnemosyne-"). For reference, the title is pronounced "Mu-ne-mo-shu-ne." The apparently full CG anime will be animated by Xebec and produced by Genco. Japanese fan site Moon Phase reports that Mnemosyne will be a six episode series.

The official Japanese homepage devoted to creator Kei Ikeda's "Zenryoku Usagi (http://www.zenryoku-usagi.com/)" ("Give It All You've Got Rabbits") mascot character franchise has announced that a Zenryoku Usagi anime will premier next January as part of the Chibi Ani Gekijo ("Tiny Anime Theater") anthology program.
