At MacWord Expo, CEO of Apple Steve Jobs is giving his press announcement to thousands of enthusiastic Macaphiles. One announcement that made everyone stand and cheer is the official announcement of the Apple iPhone.

Details are extremely sketchy right now as they are literally talking about all the details as this report gets edited.

From what we can tell so far, it has a fully integrated "next-gen" touchpad display that requires no stylus and claims to be the most accurate yet, named Multitouch. Additionally, the iPhone appears to run its own version of Mac OS X as the onboard software, giving it a rather robust choice of options in a phone.

Animated desktops and menu screens, launchable applications, music playback, iPod integration, calendar and many more very useful items. There also appears to be integration of iPhoto where you can expand or minimize photos on the screen simply by pinching them in your fingers.

Additionally, Steve Jobs showcased integration with Google maps to give different views of major cities as well as directions. One could surmise that this also gives the iPhone Internet access as seems to be standard fare with cellular phones these days.

Measuring only 11/16" thick and carrying a 3.5" high resolution display screen, the Apple iPhone appears to be right in between the size of a flip phone and a smartphone.

Furthermore, the device has two batteries, one for the phone functions and one that will be used for music playback, so using the audio player wont harm phone's battery life. (Afterdawn (http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/8393.cfm))

It's more like a cell phone with an ipod :D

Well i've read a couple of reviews, it lacks some functionalities, but usually this happens with new products.

From what i heard it has about 8gbs (not sure if this is the biggest version) so, not as much space as your standard ipod capacity, I wouldn't buy it, i don't need an 500$ phone :p

8 GB is not enough for me!!! And I think is very expensive to be just a cellphone with 8 gb.

I'm happy with my current cellpone! ^o^

A group of developers has followed up the release of the iPhoneSimFree software to retailers by offering another solution at a much more attractive price to an iPhone owner; completely free. The 6,458 bytes worth of data has been tested and confirmed working. With the recent $200 price cut from the 8GB iPhone and now unlocking software in the wild, Apple Inc. may be about to see a surge in orders.

While Apple might move quite a few more units from recent developments, AT&T Inc. may be a little bit more inclined to kick up a fuss. Up until now, the iPhone would only work if a customer subscribed to the AT&T network, but now unlocking software means it can be used with T-Mobile in the U.S. or with providers in different countries where it is not yet available. that sounds better than the first statement from ipod/apple. expecally the 200 price drop. and how it can be used for any service provider.

Yeah, waiting is the best idea when you talk about technology... but you know there are persons that like to be top of the edge in everything. :P
