A number of new anime productions have been announced at the ongoing Tokyo International Anime Fair:

Madhouse has announced plans to revive Tatsunoko's 1973 anime television series Shinzo Ningen Casshan for a new TV adaptation, tentatively titled "Casshan", that will debut this fall.

Madhouse formally announced that Black Lagoon director Sunao Katabuchi will direct a new anime production titled "Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahou."

Madhouse formally announced development of director Satoshi Kon's next film, a family-friendly feature titled "Yume Miru Kikai".

Madhouse also announced that production is now underway on a new project from director Mamoru Hosoda (Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo).

Telecom Animation and JETIX will collaborate on the production of a new sci-fi action anime television series titled "Robo Crosser." The series is tentatively scheduled to debut next year.

Studio A-1 Pictures (Ookiku Furikabutte, Persona -Trinity Soul-) is now developing a 90 minute long anime feature titled "Necrodragon."

Ultraviolet Anime Announced
A press conference held at the Tokyo International Anime Fair has formally announced (http://hobby-channel.net/content/view/4426/67/) that Madhouse will animate "UltraViolet: Code 044" as satellite TV network Animax's tenth anniversary celebratory project. The series will debut on July 1st. The anime will be an original story based on director Kurt Wimmer's 2006 sci-fi action film Ultraviolet (http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/ultraviolet/index.html).

New Clannad Anime Announced
The May issue Dengeki G's Magazine reportedly includes an announcement (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/moonphase/20080327#p1) that Kyoto Animation will produce a sequel Clannad anime television series titled "Clannad After Story."

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin Announced
The current issue of Weekly Young Sunday magazine has announced that George Abe and Masasumi Kakizaki's award winning dramatic manga series Rainbow: Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin ("Rainbow: The Seven Boys of Dorm 2, Room 6") will debut as an anime TV series next spring. The 2005 manga series is a story about the lives of six juvenile delinquents and their mentor at a Japanese reform school in the 1950s, and the boys' lives after leaving the school.

Hyakko TV Anime Announced
Japanese publisher Flex Comix has announced (http://flex-comix.jp/news/200803/news080327.html) that Haruaki Kato's online school life comedy manga series Hyakko will be adapted into an anime television series.

Blue Dragon Anime gets a Second Season
The Japanese Moon Phase message board reports (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/moonphase/20080308#anime53) that the current 51 episode Blue Dragon (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/bluedragon/) anime television series will be continued into a second television series titled "Blue Dragon: Tenkou no Shichi Ryu" (Blue Dragon: Seven Sky Dragons) that will premier on April 5th.

Plans for Live Action Akira in Motion Again
After once acquiring the rights to produce an American live action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's manga series Akira then letting those rights expire, Warner Bros. has re-acquired adaptation rights, this time in conjunction with Legendary Pictures, the studio behind 300, and Leonardo DiCaprio's film production company Appian Way. According to The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i1afdf3970176b31535ab928b875958d1) and Variety Magazine (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117981194.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&nid=2562), first time feature film director Ruairi Robinson has been hired to helm the production of two live action Akira movies that will cover the first and second half of the Akira manga story. Relative newcomer screenwriter Gary Whitta will write the films. Leonardo DiCaprio will reportedly serve as one of several producers.

Yona Yona Penguin Delayed
Japanese film distribution company Shochiku has delayed (http://www.shochiku.co.jp/cinema/index.html#soon) the Japanese theatrical release of Madhouse and director Rintaro's 3D CG fantasy family film Yona Yona Penguin from this year to 2009. No explanation for the delay has been given.

Candy Boy Anime to Continue
The official Japanese homepage for the Candy Boy (http://www.animation2.net/) anime has announced that the premier episode, which debuted online last November, will be continued with 7 additional episodes. No release date for the new episodes in the "yuri" anime series have been revealed. More at: AN (http://www.animenation.net/)

i hate to say it but im sick of clannad its not the same anymore. i think kanon was a lot better.

dont know why but im looking forward to seeing candy boy.

Well, I love the characters, but yeah, Kanon is one big favortite ^.^

How about a live action Akira... if it is made by japanese, I'd watch it! :heart:
