Finally, Kiddy Grade has a second series
The official Kiddy Grade homepage has revealed the development of a sequel anime titled “Kiddy Girl-and”. Unlike the unproduced Kiddy Grade 2 anime which was to star first series protagonists Eclaire and Lumiere, Kiddy Girl-and will be set 200 years after the events of the Kiddy Grade anime and star new characters Asakuru and Ku, partners in training to become elite intergalactic special agents. While Gonzo produced the Kiddy Grade anime, Kiddy Girl-and will be animated by Satelight.
Mobile Suit Gundam OO movie?
A message included at the end of the recently aired final episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam OO second season TV series announced that a Gundam OO motion picture will hit Japanese theaters next year. There’s no details about a theatrical feature, it’s probably a condensed version of the TV series.
Umi Monogatari Anime Announced
The Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~ anime television series will be ready for the Summer Season. Based on Sanyo Bussan’s long running line of Umi Monogatari pachinko arcade games - reportedly the most popular line of pachinko machines in Japan. Zexcs will animate the show, that centers on Marin and Urin, two mermaid sisters that want to visit terra firma.
Kigurumikku OVA in May
AIC ASTA will release an original “Kigurumikku V3 Best Episode Collection” OVA on May 20th. (The title is a joke, as no Kigurumikku anime has existed before.) Director Hisashi Saito conceived of the concept and will also direct the project, serve as animation director, and provide the storyboards and character designs. The Kigurumikku anime stars Azuki and Mutsumi, two girls that dress in Kigurumikku Swan and Kigurumikku Falcon heroine outfits and “protect” their hometown.
Strike Witches 2 is for real
Newtype Magazine has formally confirmed the development of a Strike Witches 2 anime project.
Second Koihime Musou Anime Confirmed
Marvelous Entertainment has confirmed the development of a new Koihime Musou anime based on the “Shin Koihime Muso: Otome Ryoran Sangokushi Engi” adult computer game. An anime television series and follow-up OVA based on the “Koihime Muso: Doki Otome Darake no Sangokushi Engi” game were produced last year.
Gundam will celebrate 30 years of mecha with a new anime
Monthly Gundam Ace magazine, which goes on sale later this week, will formally announce the development of a 30th anniversary Gundam anime. The as yet un-named new work will be set in Universal Calendar year 0081 - in-between the events of the original Gundam television series and its Zeta Gundam sequel - and feature the previously unseen Gundam RX-78-7 mobile suit. The focal mobile suit in the original 1979 television series was the Gundam RX-78-2.
Sora no Manimani will be ready this Summer
Studio Comet is working on a TV anime adaptation of Mami Kashiwabara’s romantic school comedy manga series Sora no Manimani. The manga tells the story of a freshman high school boy that moves back to his hometown, where he hesitantly reacquaints himself with a female childhood friend who inducts him into the school’s astronomy club.
Evangelion: 2.0 in June
The official Japanese Evangelion homepage reports that the long awaited Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance motion picture is now scheduled for a theatrical opening on June 27. Furthermore, the official site has also announced the release of a third version of the first film in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy. Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone version 1.11 will include new cuts and a new digital mastering when it hits DVD & Blu-ray disc on May 27.
Kanamemo anime in production stage
The story centers on Kana Nakamichi, a middle-school girl who had already lost her parents and just recently lost her only remaining relative, her grandmother. As a result, she ends up living and working at a newspaper delivery office. Everyone else living at the office are all charming, self-assertive bishōjo. The manga follows Kana's daily life in the fast-paced yet joyous environment. More at: AN
