Yuria Hyaku-shiki adaptation announced
The best-selling manga by Shigemitsu Harada and Nobuto Hagio, Yuria Hyaku-shiki, will get an unknown adaptation, it is not known if it will be live action or animated. It is the story of a hyper-intelligent female sex robot that decides to take up residence with a male college student.
Deadman Wonderland anime adaptation
Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou's Deadman Wonderland manga has been green-lit. The story is set after the destruction of most of Tokyo by an earthquake and centers on Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student framed for the murder of his classmates. Igarashi is sentenced to Deadman Wonderland, a bizarre privatized prison that is one part incarceration and one part public spectacle for tourists.
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru manga gets anime
Hotaru Odagiri's Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru boys-love manga has been green-lit. The series has been running in Monthly Asuka since 2005, and the sixth compiled book volume was on sale in Japan on August 26.
Hakuoki Shinsengumi Kitan anime announced
Video game publisher Idea Factory revealed that an anime adaptation of its 2008 PlayStation 2 game Hakuoki Shinsengumi Kitan is now in development. The game is a “reverse harem” historical adventure game that involves a female protagonist interacting with the handsome young swordsmen of the Shinsengumi.
Umi Monogatari extras in DVD
The official web for Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~ TV says that its DVD volumes 2-6 will include exclusive bonus short “Marin no Kore Naani?” and a full length un-aired bonus episode. The last DVD volume will be released on March 26, 2010.
Minky Momo will get a live stage musical
Oricon reports that in anticipation for the 2012 broadcast of the new 30th anniversary Mahou no Princess Minky Momo TV anime, a Minky Momo live stage musical will premiere during the 2010 Golden Week Japanese holiday. The musical’s producers are seeking child actors able to sing and dance to perform in the play. Public applications will be accepted until September 15.
K-On bonus episode with DVD
The official homepage for the recently concluded K-On TV series has announced that the series’ final home video volume will include a new, bonus episode. The seventh Japanese K-On DVD and Blu-ray disc will be released on January 20, 2010.
Rita et Machin picture books get anime
The Nippon Animation Studio is adapting Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod and Olivier Tallec's Rita et Machin picture book series into anime. The books follow the happy daily lives of a precocious five-year-old girl named Rita and an easy-going yet somewhat lazy dog named Machin.
Goulart Knights Anime Announced
Bandai Visual’s music label, Lantis, announced the development of an original anime series named Goulart Knights. The story begins after mysterious creatures named "Archons" suddenly appear in the world. Humanity faces the threat of annihilation from these creatures. Only the "Chalice," the source of humanity, can defeat the powerful Archons. So, the humans assemble an Archon-slaying unit from fighters who have the ability to bring forth the Chalice to fight.
Sora no Woto in January 2010
Japanese anime producer Aniplex has launched a website for a new title called Sora no Woto (Sound of the Sky). The Japanese Moon Phase Diary fan site credits the key visual to artist Meru Kishida, character designer for the PS3 role-playing game Rorona no Atelier ~Aarando no Renkinjutsushi~. More at: AN
