Thread: How much are you willing to pay for a good PC?

How much are you willing to pay for a good PC?

There has been a major debate with myself and a bunch of my friends about how much are they willing to spend on a good gaming rig.

They say, that $1500 - $2000 should be the right price for desktops/laptops to play most of the games, as well as some of the newer ones on a higher resolution than just average.

Now, when I brought up that I was willing to pay $3700 for a specific laptop (since I'm always on the go), there were mixed reactions about if that was too much or not.

The debate mostly was if I was eventually going to get myself a desktop. I answered "probably not if I'm going to buy this laptop; However, I will spend a little more money to get a plasma screen TV or an LCD TV -whichever is cheaper at the time- so I can hook my laptop up to the TV for home gaming, or movie watching."

Question is, how much are you willing to pay for a decent gaming rig?

Well... maybe i'd spend 3000 on a good desktop PC, but not a laptop, i use those just for work and i don't really need a powerful machine for that, not more than 800 for a laptop, at least 4me!

It depends on what dns does on a regular basis... but I think it's always cheaper to upgrade desktops.

It is always cheaper to upgrade desktops, but since I'm constantly moving around, from place to place, I need a portable computer.
It's too hard to lug around a desktop xD

i too like portable computers but i wont spend more then what is needed on it. so about 1k is good enough i think, i dont like to play computers games but i like a fast computer with lots of memory.

lol...I have enough stuff to carry, not to add anything more.
I've already made up my mind that I'm going to buy this
    laptop, so...=P

I'm not too familiar with laptop prices but I paid around $1500 for my PC in 2006. I would have been willing to pay a few hundred dollars more if I needed to (to play newer games and stuff).

I don't know what makes your particular laptop so good that it's worth paying more than double what my PC cost but you know more about computers than I do so I trust you if you say it's worth the price. One good thing about paying more for a better system now is that it won't get outdated as quickly.

$300 USD is the max I am willing to pay unless it have nano-tech. With the nano-tech development, I am willing to pay $500 max.

Nano-tech is actually progressing a hell of a lot quicker
than expected. Yamaha already has a nano-tech sea-doo
machine that you can fetch (for a bit of a price).

At least with the laptop, I can interchange the parts how
often I see fit....although with gas being on the rise...AGAIN,
I may have to put it off...AGAIN.
